Why choose a Natural Dry Shampoo?
Conventional store-bought dry shampoo is loaded with toxic ingredients such as:
Talc – Talc is a mineral made up of “hydrous magnesium silicate sometimes containing a small portion of aluminium silicate. Talc can be contaminated with asbestos fibers, posing risks for respiratory toxicity and cancer.” (Source)
Parabens– Parabens are a group of compounds used as a preservative in most cosmetic and personal products. Parabens can mimic the human hormone estrogen. This means that they may interfere with the hormone balance of your body, no matter your sex. Some examples are propane, isobutane, and butane. (Source)
Alcohol – This what make the aerosol dray shampoo not feel wet. According to the EWG “denatured (SD) alcohol is a mixture of ethanol with a denaturing agent. Ethanol is considered broadly toxic and linked to birth defects following excessive oral ingestion.” (Source)
Fragrance– This is what makes it smell good but according to the EWG it can “represents an undisclosed mixture of various scent chemicals and ingredients used as fragrance dispersants such as diethyl phthalate. Fragrance mixes have been associated with allergies, dermatitis, respiratory distress and potential effects on the reproductive system” (Source)
